More information regarding "My Plate"



Carly has been kind enough to give us the outline she used while presenting to our students.
Grade 2
Healthy Eating & MyPlate
1.    fruit
a.   most are high in vitamin C
b.   we need vitamin C for immunity
2.    vegetables
a.   most are high in fiber
b.   we need fiber for our digestive system
3.    protein
a.   we need protein for our muscles
4.    grains
a.   most are high in B vitamins
b.   we need B vitamins for energy
5.    dairy
a.   most are high in calcium
b.   we need calcium for our bones and teeth


*we also discussed examples of about a dozen different foods that belong to each food group
